Incentives
Under the 1602 Program, support is available for every patent application filed with the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office (TÜRKPATENT), the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the European Patent Office (EPO), the Japan Patent Office (JPO) and the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
The main objectives of the New Patent Support Program are:
to increase the number of national and international patent applications originating from Türkiye,
to encourage individuals and legal entities to file patent applications,
to increase the number of patents in Türkiye.
For national patent applications filed with TÜRKPATENT,
search report support,
examination report support,
attorney support for applications filed through a patent attorney,
and, if a patent is granted, a Patent Registration Award for the patent holder and for the patent attorneys who handled the application process
will be provided.
For patent applications filed with WIPO, the EPO, the USPTO and the JPO,
application or search report support,
examination report support,
and a patent award if a patent is granted by the EPO, the USPTO or the JPO
will be provided.
Another innovation of the program is that the application procedures have been improved, making it much easier to apply. Requesting TÜBİTAK support during online patent transactions at TÜRKPATENT is enough to start the 1602 Program patent support process. In addition, every patent holder who is granted a patent will receive a separate award by submitting a new application for the award.
The Patent Support Program does not support only the patent holder. For national applications, if the patent holder uses an attorney, the attorney receives support for the application, and the attorney of a patent holder who is granted a patent is also rewarded separately.
