Industrial Designs
For your designs to be protected under Decree-Law No. 554 on the Protection of Industrial Designs, an industrial design registration application must be filed with the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office (TÜRKPATENT). The application includes a visual representation and a description of the design. There is no limit on the number of designs and design images that can be submitted at one time.
TÜRKPATENT examines industrial design registration applications only for compliance with formal requirements. Applications that meet the formal requirements are published in the Official Industrial Designs Bulletin for 6 months. If no opposition is filed during this period, the registration of the industrial design becomes final and the applicant is issued an Industrial Design Registration Certificate. The certificate is valid for 5 years, and the registration can be renewed in 5-year periods for up to 25 years.
