If an application filed with the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office (TÜRKPATENT) contains the required elements, the applicant is notified in writing that the application has been received and entered in the register. The application is then examined for compliance with the formal requirements. If an application does not meet these requirements, the applicant is notified so that the deficiencies can be remedied. This notification gives the applicant three months to correct the formal deficiencies. If the formal deficiencies are not remedied within this period, TÜRKPATENT rejects the application. It is therefore in the applicant's interest to prepare the application carefully and diligently at the filing stage. In addition, the corrections must not go beyond the scope of the original application.
