Patents & Utility Models
After a patent or utility model application has been filed, annuities (annual fees) must be paid to maintain legal protection. Annuities are paid every year on the day and month corresponding to the filing date. If an annuity is not paid when due, it can be paid with a surcharge within a 6-month grace period. If the annuity of a patent or utility model is not paid within the due period or the grace period, legal protection ends.
