A patent granted by the state to an inventor for an invention gives the inventor the right, for a limited period, to prevent others from making, using or selling the invention without the inventor's permission. A patented invention becomes the property of its owner, just like any other business asset that can be bought, sold, rented or leased. Patents confer rights only in the countries where they are granted. A patent obtained in Türkiye protects its owner only within Türkiye and entitles the owner to stop others from importing the patented products into Türkiye.
