Patent
Ecuador is a member of the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT). The deadline for entering the national phase via the PCT is 31 months. A power of attorney legalized by the consulate or by apostille is required. Patent protection lasts 20 years. The description must be in Spanish. The application must be filed through a representative resident in Ecuador.
Utility model
The requirements are the same as for patents. Utility model protection lasts 10 years.
