Patent
Chile is a member of the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT). The deadline for entering the national phase via the PCT is 30 months. A power of attorney legalized by the Chilean consulate is required. If priority is claimed, consular legalization is likewise required. The applicant must explain its right to the invention.
Utility model
The requirements are the same as for patents. Utility model protection lasts 10 years.
