Trademark registration in Nicaragua

Nicaragua is not a member of the Madrid Protocol. Applications can be filed through a local attorney. After examination, the trademark is published. If no opposition is filed after publication, the registration is completed. The registration process takes approximately 14-15 months. A notarized and consularly legalized power of attorney is required. Authentication by apostille instead of consular legalization is also sufficient. If priority is claimed, the priority document must be submitted within 90 days of the filing date. A list of the classes to be covered must be submitted. A representation of the trademark must be submitted electronically or as 25 copies measuring 8 x 8 cm. A single-class system is used. The Nice Classification applies.
