Bulgaria is a member of the Madrid Protocol, and trademark applications can be filed through the Madrid Protocol. Trademark registration takes about 18 months. However, by filing an accelerated application, the registration period can be shortened to 1 year. If a priority document is to be used, it must be provided at the time of filing. A simply signed power of attorney is sufficient for a trademark application. A good-quality 7 × 7 cm image of the mark, or its name, is required. A list of the services to which the mark will be applied is required. Multi-class applications can be filed. An additional class fee is charged after 3 classes, i.e. from the 4th class. The term of protection is 10 years. The trademark can be used indefinitely by renewing it every 10 years. Oppositions can be filed within 2 months of publication.
