Denmark is a member of the Madrid Protocol. Applications can be filed through the Madrid Protocol or directly through a local attorney. Registration takes about 4 months. A trademark is valid for 10 years. A simply signed power of attorney is required. Prints of the mark are required. If priority is claimed, the priority document must be provided at the time of filing. A multi-class system is used. An additional class fee applies after the 3rd class, i.e. from the 4th class. The international Nice Classification is used. Protection is indefinite, provided that the trademark is renewed every 10 years. After examination, the mark is published in the official bulletin for 2 months, during which oppositions can be filed. After registration, there is a 5-year use requirement. If the mark is not used, it lapses following an action brought by third parties. It can be renewed indefinitely every 10 years.
