Patent
Angola is a member of the international Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT). The PCT national phase deadline is 30 months.
A patent application requires a power of attorney legalized by the consulate. The total term of protection is 20 years. The specification must be translated into Portuguese and submitted within 3 months of entry into Angola. (Brazilian Portuguese is not accepted.) All documents must be in Portuguese.
Utility model
The total term of protection is 10 years. Registration is completed within 12–15 months of filing. The requirements are the same as for a patent application.
