Patent
Egypt is a member of the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT). The deadline for entering the national phase via the PCT is 31 months. A power of attorney notarized and legalized by the consulate must be submitted. Legal entities must submit a commercial registry certificate. The commercial registry certificate must be notarized and submitted together with an Arabic translation. The full specification may be submitted in English or French. An Arabic translation must then be submitted within 6 months. The term of patent protection is 20 years. An opposition may be filed within 2 months after the patent is published in the Official Gazette.
Utility Model
The requirements are the same as for patents. The term of utility model protection is 10 years.
