Patent
Mozambique is a member of the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT). The deadline for entering the national phase via the PCT is 31 months. A notarized power of attorney must be submitted. If the applicant and the inventor are different, the relationship between them must be declared. The full specification must be submitted in Portuguese. If priority is claimed, the priority document must be submitted in Portuguese. The term of patent protection is 20 years. Within 18 months of the filing date, the patent application is published for a period of 60 days. Third parties may file an opposition during this period.
Utility Model
The requirements are the same as for patents. The term of utility model protection is 15 years.
