Bangladesh is not a member of the Madrid Protocol. To file a trademark application, you must engage a local attorney firm. Registration of a trademark can be completed within 10 months. If the Office refuses the application, an appeal can be filed within 3 months. The applicant's details, the name of the mark (and the logo, if any) and a simply signed power of attorney are required. A multi-class system is used. The initial registration term is 7 years, and each subsequent renewal provides 10 years of protection. Oppositions can be filed within two months of publication. After the initial 7-year term, the trademark can be renewed for 10-year periods. Renewal must be filed 6 months before the term expires.
