Myanmar is not a member of the Madrid Protocol. Applications can be filed through a local attorney in the country. Trademark registration takes about 2 months. A power of attorney legalized by the consulate and notarized is required. A multi-class system is used. The term of protection for a trademark is 3 years. This term can be extended indefinitely by renewal every 3 years or by publication in the intellectual property gazette. Renewal every 3 years or publication of the trademark in the intellectual property gazette is required.
