Patent
Estonia is a member of the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT). The deadline for entering the national phase via the PCT is 31 months. A simply signed power of attorney is sufficient. Applications must be filed through an attorney resident in Estonia. Patent protection lasts 20 years.
Utility model
Utility model protection is available. Renewals in the 4th, 6th and 8th years after filing provide a total of 10 years of protection. The requirements are the same as for patent applications.
