Patent
Hungary is a member of the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT). The deadline for entering the national phase via the PCT is 31 months. A simply signed power of attorney is required. The term of patent protection is 20 years. An applicant from a country that is not a party to the European Economic Area Agreement must appoint a local attorney in the country.
Utility Model
A utility model system is in place. The conditions and requirements are the same as for patents. The term of utility model protection is 10 years.
