Patent
Latvia is a member of the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT). The deadline for entering the national phase via the PCT is 31 months. A simply signed power of attorney is required. The term of patent protection is 20 years. For pharmaceutical inventions, it can be extended by a further 5 years. The full specification must be in Latvian. If priority is claimed, the notarized priority document must be submitted within 16 months of the filing date.
