France is a member of the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT). The deadline for entering the national phase via the PCT is 31 months. No power of attorney is required. A French translation of the specification is required. If the applicant is not the inventor, an assignment agreement is required. Patents are protected for 20 years.
Utility Model
Utility model protection is available. The filing conditions and requirements are the same as for patents. Utility model protection lasts 6 years. No examination report is issued for utility models.
