Malta is a member of the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT). The deadline for entering the national phase via the PCT is 31 months. A simply signed power of attorney must be submitted. The term of patent protection is 20 years. An opposition may be filed within 2 months after the patent is published. A local attorney resident in Malta must be appointed.
