Patent
Finland is a member of the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT). The deadline for entering the national phase via the PCT is 31 months. A simply signed power of attorney is sufficient for the application. A Finnish translation of the specification is required.
Utility Model
Utility model applications can be filed. There are two types of utility model: a standalone utility model, and a utility model applied for in addition to a patent. The filing requirements are the same as for patents. The total term of protection is 10 years.
