Patent
Portugal is a member of the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT). The deadline for entering the national phase via the PCT is 30 months. A simply signed power of attorney is required. The term of patent protection is 20 years. If the applicant is not the inventor, an assignment document and a declaration by the inventor in favor of the applicant are required. A Portuguese translation of the full specification and the priority document is required.
Utility Model
The term of utility model protection is 15 years. All requirements are the same as for patents.
