Patent
Iran is a member of the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT). The deadline for entering the national phase via the PCT is 30 months. A notarized and consularly legalized power of attorney is required. A declaration regarding the relationship between the applicant and the inventor must be submitted. An attorney resident in Iran must be appointed, and a document evidencing the appointment must be submitted. If the national phase is entered via the PCT, the documents must be submitted in 3 copies. Patent protection lasts 20 years.
Utility Model
The requirements are the same as for patents. Utility model protection lasts 10 years.
