Patent
Nepal is not a member of the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT). Applications can be filed through a local attorney in the country. A power of attorney notarized and signed in the presence of two witnesses is required. An English translation of the full specification must be submitted. The term of patent protection is 7 years. After 7 years, it can be renewed twice more for 7 years each, providing up to 21 years of protection in total.
Utility Model
The requirements are the same as for patents. The term of utility model protection is 7 years.
