Jordan is a member of the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT). The deadline for entering the national phase via the PCT is 30 months. A power of attorney notarized and legalized by the consulate is required. An English or Arabic translation of the specification documents is required. The trade registry gazette must be provided. An invention approved for publication is laid open for 3 months. Third parties may file oppositions during this period. A patent provides a total of 20 years of protection.
