Patent
Kazakhstan is a member of the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT). The deadline for entering the national phase via the PCT is 31 months. A simply signed power of attorney must be submitted. If the applicant is not located in Kazakhstan, an attorney must be appointed. If the applicant and the inventor are not the same, a document explaining the relationship between them must be submitted. Patent protection lasts 20 years.
Utility Model
The requirements are the same as for patents. Utility model protection lasts 10 years.
