Patent
Mongolia is a member of the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT). The deadline for entering the national phase via the PCT is 31 months. The term of patent protection is 20 years. The full specification must be submitted in 2 copies. National phase entry must be made through a local attorney resident in Mongolia. If the applicant and the inventor are not the same, the relationship between them must be stated. Annuities for the first 3 years are paid in a single payment; after that, they must be paid separately for each year.
Utility Model
The requirements are the same as for patents. The term of utility model protection is 7 years.
