Oman is a member of the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT). The deadline for entering the national phase via the PCT is 30 months. A power of attorney notarized and legalized by the consulate must be provided. The legal relationship between the applicant and the inventor regarding the rights to the invention must be declared. An application approved for publication after examination is published in the official bulletin for 120 days. Oppositions can be filed during this period. If the applicant is not located in Oman, an attorney resident in Oman must be appointed. Patent protection lasts 20 years.
