Patent
Yemen is not a member of the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT). A power of attorney notarized and legalized by the consulate must be provided. The trade registry gazette must also be provided, notarized and legalized by the consulate. If the inventor and the applicant are not the same person, a document evidencing the assignment of rights between them must be provided. The specification documents must be submitted in Arabic or English. If priority is claimed, the priority document must be submitted within 3 months of the filing date.
Utility model
The requirements are the same as for patents. Utility model protection lasts 7 years.
