Patent
Israel is a member of the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT). The deadline for entering the national phase via the PCT is 30 months. A simply signed power of attorney must be submitted. The specification must be submitted in English or Hebrew. If a patent is granted by one of the patent offices of Austria, Australia, the United States, Germany, Denmark, the United Kingdom, the Russian Federation, Japan, Europe (EPO), Norway, Canada or Switzerland, the Israel Patent Office decides directly to grant the application and publishes it in the official bulletin. Third parties may file an opposition within 3 months. Patent protection lasts 20 years. Within 3 months after the grant decision, the renewal fee for the first 6 years must be paid in a lump sum. Thereafter, the renewal fees must be paid in lump sums in the 6th, 10th, 14th and 18th years. Alternatively, in the 6th year, the renewal fees for the remaining 14 years can be paid in a single lump sum.
Utility Model
The requirements are the same as for patents. Utility model protection lasts 10 years.
