Iraq is not a member of the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT). Applications can be filed through a local attorney. An Arabic translation of the specification must be submitted. If priority is claimed, the priority document must be submitted within 3 months of the filing date. Patent registration takes 2-3 years on average. Patent protection lasts 20 years in total.
