Patent
The United Arab Emirates is a member of the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT). The deadline for entering the national phase via the PCT is 31 months. A power of attorney notarized and legalized by the consulate is required. If the applicant is a legal entity, a certificate of commercial registration must be provided. If there are no issues, the application is published in the bulletin for 60 days, during which third parties may file oppositions. Patent protection lasts 20 years.
Utility model
The requirements are the same as for patents. Utility model protection lasts 10 years.
