Indonesia is a member of the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT). The deadline for entering the national phase via the PCT is 31 months. If the applicant does not reside in Indonesia, an attorney must be appointed for the patent application. If the application is filed via the PCT, 3 copies must be provided. On first filing, patent protection (provisional patent certificate) lasts 10 years. If a request for examination is filed within 36 months of the first filing date, the total patent protection is extended to 20 years. Annuities must be paid every year.
